FREE Autistic Support course available

Being diagnosed autistic, as an adult, can seem overwhelming, as it can be difficult to fully understand your diagnosis. But with our support, it doesn’t have to be.

If you are an autistic adult (over 18) based in Milton Keynes and have recently been diagnosed, or are waiting to be, you may be struggling to understand your diagnosis. We can help.

Working with the NHS and other charities, we are running a FREE six week, in person, course in Milton Keynes (2 hours a week). This course is available for those who live in the Milton Keynes, Bedford and Luton areas. For those unable to attend in person, a similar six week course will be available to access online.

Last year, 61 adults attended similar courses we ran. They told us that:

  • Being different (autistic) has been a struggle, both before and after their diagnosis.
  • Their autism diagnosis has helped them understand why they continue to struggle.

Attending a group with other autistic adults has helped to boost their self-esteem, and mental health, through giving them:

  • A better understanding of their difference.
  • A feeling they are no longer alone (others understand them).
  • A chance of being listened to, and to being (acceptably) challenged.
  • An opportunity to make new friends and learn about new social groups.

Our six week, FREE, Autism Support course will provide you with the opportunity for you to share your feelings and explore your emotions relating to your diagnosis, and your lived experience of being autistic, in a shared space.

People attending similar courses, have found that:

  • Through sharing they were able to learn from each other.
  • By identifying their strengths and weaknesses, they were able to set themselves goals.
  • Through exploring how and why they might struggle in social situations they have learnt how to navigate and improve their social communication, and how to advocate for themselves.
