The Accessible Workshop opens in High Wycombe

We are thrilled to announce that our brand-new workshop in High Wycombe was opened on the 4th April.

We are thrilled to announce that our brand-new workshop in High Wycombe was opened on the 4th April. The ribbon was sawed (of course) by Tom Chettle. Last year, Tom led a team of incredible friends and colleagues who took on the 3 Peaks Challenge. And, in doing so, helped raise funds to provide the new workshop. The launch event was attended by Talkback staff, members of the workshop and other guests.

Where is The Accessible Workshop based?

Based in the HQube development in High Wycombe, The Accessible Workshop is a social enterprise. It enables adults with learning disabilities and autism to build real-world work skills. As well as gain an understanding of how their skills and talents can be used to create positive social change.

Jeremy Hay, CEO of Talkback, was delighted to welcome guests to the opening: “The Accessible Workshop is a truly fantastic part of what we do at Talkback. It is a privilege to be able to provide our members with a space to develop and showcase their formidable talents. And to have Tom join us to officially open the space was wonderful. We remain incredibly grateful for all his efforts in helping us bring the project to life.”

Tom and his team are fundraising superstars

In July 2022, Tom Chettle and his team took on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge. They did so in memory Andy Leach, a colleague and friend of Tom’s who sadly passed away the previous year. Andy was passionate about supporting autistic individuals and people with a learning disability, which is why they decided to raise money for Talkback and The Accessible Workshop.

Tom was thrilled to continue his involvement with Talkback and to be able to open the latest workshop: “Ever since I have had the privilege of being part of Talkback and The Accessible Workshop, I’ve been blown away by what they do for autistic people and those with learning disabilities. Providing opportunities to develop skills and promote increased independence is at the heart of a truly remarkable organisation. So, I could not have been happier when I was asked to open the latest workshop. And of course to catch up with the amazing members Talkback has.”
