Festival of Sport and Fun 2024

We are thrilled, after the success of last year’s event, to be holding our second Festival of Sport and Fun on the 8th July at Wycombe Leisure Centre. Sport and being active are integral parts of what we do at Talkback and we want to be able to showcase that in a way that encourages everyone to get involved. The day will be packed with a wide range of sporting sessions run by our partners, each of whom has significant experience in providing sporting opportunities for autistic people and those with learning disabilities.

What will we be offering?

There’s a wide range of sports and activities on offer, these include:

Led by Steve Jacobs from Wycombe Badminton Club.

Led by inclusive coaches from England Netball

Dance Fitness

Led by our very own Tisha Summerscale.

Seated Yoga

Led by Yoga Therapist Julie Pons.

Led by Chris Burnard of Inspire 2B Active.

Led by our own team, a fantastic sport based on bowls designed for those with disabilities.

Led by Handy Cross Bowls Club at the indoor bowls arena at Wycombe Leisure Centre,

Find out more

There will be gym introductions and tours of Wycombe Leisure Centre.

As well as this, we will be running a marketplace of stalls with more ideas to keep you active. More information on those will follow soon.

Who can join us?

This is a truly open and inclusive event. Any autistic people or individuals with learning disabilities are very welcome to come along and take part. You don’t need to be a member of Talkback. If you live in Bucks, we’d love to see you there.

How will the day work?

The day is a drop-in session. You can join us at any point and try out any (or all!) of the activities. There’s no pressure to be involved in all of it, so if you just want to come along and try one sport, then that’s totally fine. As well as the activities, there will be a range of stalls (because it’s a festival) to find out more about local organisations.

What happens after the day?

Whilst the day itself will be a fun packed event, we will also be working with those people who would like to continue to be active. Each of our sessions are designed as a gateway into future participation in the sports. We will be creating pathway sessions so everyone can stay involved and stay active. There will be more about that on the day and when we follow up.
