Last week, we were thrilled to be able to put on not one, but two sports days. For obvious reasons, these are the first sports days we have been able to hold since 2019, so we made sure we came back with a bang!
Both sports days were brilliant, from start to finish. With all the ingredients that make Talkback Sports so much fun and so inclusive. We started both days with our Wake Up Shake Up dancing, which is always thoroughly enjoyed by all our members. We then moved on to a wide range of games and a netball showcase in the afternoon.
At Talkback, we have been working hard to develop team games over the past year and it was fabulous to watch just how much the group had achieved with their game play. We also had a mad staff v members game at the end of the day. That really was a sight to behold!
The finale was the medal ceremony where everyone who took part received a hand-made medal by the Expressions Group.
Sports Day Reaction
Helen Krauze, our Sports and Wellbeing Manager, was delighted with both days: “To say we have been through a lot over the last few years would be a huge understatement. So, to be able to once again hold our sports days was wonderful. The passion for sport that our members have and the sheer joy they get from engaging with their peers is incredible. Of course, these things wouldn’t be possible without the support of our partners. We’d like to thank Nexus Security Solutions who funded the event and Holmer Green Sports Association who very kindly provided the venue.”
We were also thrilled to be joined by parents and carers and our own trustees, all of whom thought the sports days were a success:
“Sports day was amazing, we loved it and Georgina was so proud. The young people get such a sense of achievement and being part of something. It was just as much a special day for me as it was for Georgina.”
Caz Mulqueen, Parent
“I had an excellent time and enjoyed meeting members, staff, family members and funders. The best part was cheering and celebrating the achievements in each of the events – especially the competitive netball game!”
Lisa Hughes, Talkback Trustee
We will be sharing some more photos and posts throughout the week, so do keep an eye out for them! And you can find out more about our sports programmes here.
