LJ gains work with Buckinghamshire Council

We’re delighted that our member LJ has been recruited by Buckinghamshire Council, as a Trainee Business Support Administrator. This was made possible through our Transitions to Work project.

Transitions to Work has been an 18-month project, funded by the Rothschild Foundation. Working with Citizen Advice Bucks, this programme aimed to help 24 autistic people (aged between 16 and 25 years old) into the world of work. Now coming to a close, we’re thrilled to be sharing success stories of our members who participated in this scheme.

LJ’s new role was developed through a partnership between LJ, Talkback and the Horizons team of Buckinghamshire Council. They commented: “ L is one of our top candidates and was initially earmarked for another team, but we’ve now identified a role, which offers better long-term opportunities.”

LJ was delighted to be recruited to this position, he commented: “Talkback has been very helpful in helping me fine-tune my applications and interview questions. They’ve also helped me ask for reasonable adjustments, which is something I’ve not known how to do before.”

We are absolutely thrilled that LJ has been successful in gaining employment, Kath Dunn, Talkback’s Employment Specialist commented: “L has shown enormous resilience in sticking with his job search, despite disappointments along the way, and has taken up all the support available. We wish him all the very best in his new role.”

Good Luck LJ!

Working with Citizens Advice Bucks, our Transitions to Work programme provided:

  • Application preparation.
  • Job finding support.
  • Interview preparation.
  • Money and benefits advice.
  • 1:1 coaching.
  • Up to six months “in-role” support.

We would like to say thank you to the Rothschild Foundation, whose funding to date has made this programme possible. We’d also like to thank the Horizons team for working with us to make this employment opportunity possible.

We are always looking for organisations or businesses to support us, so that we can provide training for our members to gain the skills and confidence needed to help them enter the world of work.
