Congratulations Arjun!

We are absolutely delighted to hear that our member, Arjun, has been successful in landing a permanent, part-time role, at Fairhive.

Earlier in the year, Fairhive had taken on Arjun for a, three-month, temporary role in their IT department. When this came to an end, a permanent, part-time position came up, and they asked Arjun to apply. Following his interview, he was thrilled to learn that he had been successful.

Arjun commented:  “I am very happy to be back and I’m looking forward to continuing learning new IT skills and helping the team.”

Rick Smith, Head of IT Systems and Data for Fairhive, stated. “The whole team had been so impressed with Arjun during his 3-month placement that they were all really keen to get him back on a permanent basis. He’s now an integral part of the team and has allowed fellow team members to get on with other long-standing projects.”

Ian Rowlands our Employability Coordinator, popped into see Arjun this week and had this to say: “I couldn’t be happier for Arjun. It has been fantastic to see how he has grown in confidence and developed new skills during his time with Fairhive. The IT team have been so supportive of him, and his success has further solidified our relationship with Fairhive. I am hopeful that this will create opportunities for other young people in the future.”

We weren’t the only ones delighted with this news

We were overjoyed to receive an email from Arjun’s mum, Kam, who had this to say:

“I wanted to express my immense gratitude for the incredibly good work that you and your team provide and for the support given to Arjun on his journey for employment in his desired field.

“I truly believe that every young adult needs an opportunity for their future development and especially those that are neurodiverse. With the support provided by Talkback and the fantastic opportunity given by Fairhive, I truly believe that Arjun will prosper and develop into a confident young person.”

If ever there was a quote to sum up why we love the work we do, this is it!

We couldn’t agree with Kam more – good luck Arjun!

Arjun, was part of our Transitions to Work programme, funded by the Rothschild Foundation. Working with Citizen Advice Bucks, the aim of this programme was to help 24 autistic people aged between 16 and 25 years old, into the world of work. Although this programme has now closed, the participants are continuing to succeed, and we are thrilled to be able to share with you their stories as they enter the world of work.

How did Transitions to Work help?

Working with Citizens Advice Bucks, our Transitions to Work programme provided:

  • Application preparation.
  • Job finding support.
  • Interview preparation.
  • Money and benefits advice.
  • 1:1 coaching.
  • Up to six months “in-role” support.

We would like to say thank you to the Rothschild Foundation, whose funding made this programme possible. We’d also like to thank Fairhive for working with us to make this employment opportunity possible.

We are always looking for fantastic organisations or businesses, like Fairhive, to support us, so that we can provide training for our members to gain the skills and confidence needed to help them enter the world of work.
