What is it like working with Talkback?

Working with Talkback has been easy and a pleasure. We have very regular communication to ensure that we are providing the best possible service to meet their needs and to ensure that any ‘niggle’s are ironed out and dealt with immediately or relevant information is shared.

How do Talkback members contribute to Green Dragon Eco Farm?

Talkback members carry out various tasks on our livestock farm which includes feeding, cleaning out, providing water and some general maintenance tasks. They work hard and diligently, and their help really makes a difference to the animals and to the farm team.

What have you learnt about people with a learning disability and autism in your working environment?

I think more than anything, we have learnt what a valuable contribution people with a learning disability and autism can make in a working environment. Not only in terms of the physical help they provide but also in terms of teaching our staff how to communicate with and help them to be confident and comfortable in our environment. They are a pleasure to have on site. Over time we have got to know individuals and we miss their smiles, their input and their unshakeable positivity.

Do you think more companies and organisations should support or employ people with a learning disability and autism?

Definitely.  It really is a two-way relationship; the members have a lot to offer and deserve the opportunity to demonstrate this.
