At Talkback, our mission is clear: empowering individuals with learning disabilities and autism to unlock their full potential. Through tailored programmes, we guide our members on a lifelong journey of growth, independence, and success.

But achieving such transformative outcomes requires innovative thinking and the right tools. That’s where the Technology Transformation Group (TTG) stepped in. Together, we’ve made something extraordinary happen.

Our programmes are designed to meet the unique needs of our members:

• Equip: Our Education programme, supports young adults with EHCPs, aged 16-25, to achieve their personal and educational goals that build resilience, self-esteem, independence, and lifelong community and work skills.
• Personal Development & Life Skills (PDS): Helping members over 21 to cultivate essential life skills and independence.
• Employment: Connecting members with meaningful work, guiding them through CV preparation, and offering support to ensure long-term job success.
• Your Voice: Empowering self-expression through grant-funded programmes, delivered within tight budgets.

These initiatives create tangible outcomes – not just for individuals but for society at large. For example, securing employment for one member saved their council £2,880 annually while boosting self-esteem and reducing reliance on support services.

Yet, as impactful as these programs are, we needed a way to seamlessly demonstrate their value and ensure every member reached their goals…

The Challenge:

Managing such a diverse array of programmes comes with its own complexities. We needed a way to track our members’ progress seamlessly as they moved through their journey. We also wanted to ensure no one left us before they’d fully realised their potential. That’s when we launched Project Integration – our plan to streamline operations, improve tracking and monitoring of outcomes, and truly showcase the value that we deliver.

Partnering with TTG: Innovation Meets Transformation

To bring our vision to life, we partnered with TTG. Known for its expertise as an IT solutions provider and managed services partner, TTG blends traditional IT with AI to craft solutions that solve real-world problems.

The result of this collaboration? The Impact App – a game-changer for Talkback. This innovative system consolidates everything we need: member profiles, achievements, risk assessments, staff schedules, and session plans – into one privacy-conscious platform.

It ensures that information is securely organised and accessible to the right people, enabling us to monitor and track our members’ life journeys. Regular review allows support to be modified to meet the ever-changing mental, physical, and emotional needs of our members’ lives.

The system enables staff to monitor any emerging trends, changes in behaviours, or regular absences and raise alerts if necessary; so that safeguarding teams can ensure members are safe and have access to the appropriate community health services.

The IMPACT system also helps us measure the impact of Talkback sessions and to demonstrate value to funders.

From Idea to Award-Winning Reality

The Impact App has not only transformed our operations but also put Talkback on the map in ways we never imagined. By saving each staff member 3 hours a week this equates to over 10,000 hours of productivity annually, it has created efficiencies that allow us to focus on what matters most.

TTG didn’t stop there. Inspired by the success, they repackaged the app as Vitaskills, making its benefits available to other organisations in the sector. This step ensures

that others can also enhance their outcomes, streamline operations, and deliver better value for their funders.

And then came the icing on the cake: TTG’s submission of the Impact App’s development won them the prestigious Team of the Year Award at the UK IT Industry Awards – one of the highest honours in the field. Beating some of the biggest names in the industry, this win celebrates the ingenuity, teamwork, and dedication that brought the Impact app to life.
