The joy of a walking holiday

With holiday season upon us, in this third blog of her walking series, Nicola Martin takes a look at walking holidays.

A walking holiday can be a good way to visit many places in one trip. Explore the coast, visit country villages, or walk from town to town.

There are many different options for holidays so there will be something for everyone whether you can walk for miles or for a short distance. If you are a confident explorer, you can head out on your own. If you are new to walking holidays or not confident to go off by yourself, you can go on guided walking holidays.

Where to find a walking holiday

There are lots of great websites to use to help you find a walking holiday. Here are just a few of them:

www.explore.co.uk/destinations/europe/united-kingdom/walking-in-the-uk

If you decide not to take a walking holiday this year, wherever you do go, try to go exploring on foot as it is a great way to take in the environment around you. It also a way of discovering places you might not have seen on a map or from the road.

While out walking stay hydrated and know your limits of what you can do. We all have limits and we do not want to ruin a nice holiday because we pushed ourselves too far. Enjoy yourselves and be safe.
