Fancy a challenge?

We are delighted and honoured that Tom Chettle and colleagues from Buckinghamshire Council will be embarking on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge in memory of their colleague Andy Leach and, in doing so, will be raising money for Talkback. The walk will take place on July 17th and if you would like to take part, there is still time to join the team.

The team will attempt to conquer the three spectacular fells of Whernside (736m), Ingleborough (723m) and Pen-y-Ghent (694m) that dominate the Dales skyline. They will cover 39km and climb over 1700m in just 12 hours returning to Horton, to successfully complete the challenge and enter the ‘Three Peaks of Yorkshire Club’.

They have taken up this challenge in memory of their colleague Andy Leach who sadly passed away last year. Andy was passionate about supporting autistic individuals and people with a learning disability, which is why they have decided to raise money for Talkback.

Any money raised will go towards securing new premises for our Accessible Workshop. This reflects Andy’s interest in supporting autistic individuals and people with a learning disability to secure employment opportunities.

We have recently raised funds to purchase new equipment and tools for the workshop and now require a larger space to accommodate these and to be able to offer this opportunity to more of our members.

If you fancy this challenge, then you can sign up to join Tom’s group here: Talkback Yorkshire 3 Peaks: July 17th – Get Outdoors (getoutdoorsuk.org). And if this doesn’t sound quite your thing but you’d like to support the group with their challenge, then please donate to the fundraising page here.
