DJ H4ZZA Live ‘n’ Loud in MK

Wednesday 21st June was not an ordinary night for MK member Harry, AKA DJ H4ZZA. Because, on this night, Harry performed his first ever paid DJ set for MK College’s Summer Prom at Christ the Cornerstone Church.

The evening was even more special for Harry as he is an ex-student of the college. As he said: “It was amazing to see all of the college staff again as it brought back fun, happy memories from my college days”.

Here’s Harry to tell you all about:

How it started

Richard from Talkback phoned me to tell me MK College were looking for a DJ for the summer prom and asked if I was interested. I said definitely(!) straight away. I felt all the emotions, surprised, speechless, happy. The adrenalin was rushing through me. I felt like a balloon about to burst!

My preparation

I started my preparation as soon as I could. I created a playlist on my computer and made up three CD’s. I made sure my DJ equipment worked and made sure my laptop synced to the equipment. The week before, I was invited to the church to do a sound check and I spoke to the church staff about the lighting and speakers to be used on the night.

On The Day

I felt happy, and I was very much looking forward to it. I knew it would be an epic evening. I wasn’t nervous because I knew the staff. Talkback staff, the staff from the church and MK College were all around me. It also helped to be sent photographs of the setup of the event during the day.

Walking into the room

I arrived at 5pm and I wanted to cry with happiness. This night meant so much to me and the room looked beautiful.

During the evening

The evening went by far too quickly. I loved seeing everyone’s reactions to my song choices and seeing people sing and dance. I received so many song requests as well and to see people’s reactions when I played their song was amazing. The best bit of the evening was the balloon drop. I thought it worked brilliantly with my song choice, and it looked stunning.

At the End

After it finished, I was asked to play some tunes for the staff who were cleaning up. I didn’t want the night to end. Walking out, I felt proud of myself. I was delighted with my performance. The day after, I was drained and exhausted but still very happy. I’m now looking forward to doing it all again next year.

Thank you!

I must thank the MK College staff, MK Council and Richard from Talkback for giving me this opportunity. I also thank the Talkback staff who gave up their evening to see me in action and the church staff Simon and Woody for helping me set up and making sure everything went smoothly. Also, to Kay who was very busy catering for the event who still took the time to come and see me and danced with me. I appreciated that a lot. Lastly, thanks to Jay for providing the DJ with so many (non-alcoholic!) cocktails.

It all meant so much to me.

It meant a lot for all of us at us at Talkback too. Well done Harry, for providing an amazing atmosphere on what was such a special night. We hope this is the first of many gigs we see you perform at.
