Banishing Blue Monday – A poem of joy

This wonderful poem called Bike Ride, by Nicola from Reading really made us smile. Poetry and art can be a great way to raise your spirits as can getting out for a walk or even a bike ride.

Today is known as Blue Monday. It can be hard getting through January with the cold weather and dark evenings and on any day we can all feel a little blue.

We had a look at our Your Voice Wall, which was created to give autistic people and those with learning disabilities the chance to showcase their creativity and achievements and found lots of posts, which cheered us up.

Bike Ride

I went for a ride on my bike,

I didn’t fancy a hike.

The wind in my hair,

Caused people to stare.

I was having so much fun.

Going downhill

Was such a thrill,

Going at such a pace,

I fell flat on my face,

Still, it was fun.

On I still rode,

Until I saw my abode,

Not wanting the ride to end,

I took the next bend,

I could spend all day on my bike.
