Jools is up and running in aid of Talkback

Jools Montague will be taking in the sights of London on Sunday 7th April, as she takes part in the London Landmarks Half Marathon to help raise money for Talkback.

The London Landmarks Half Marathon is a closed road, central London run and is the only half marathon to go through both the City of London and City of Westminster. Jools is running to help us raise money to support our Talkback Youth Club.

Jools is no stranger to a half marathon and has raised money for different charities over the years. However, fundraising for Talkback has a special place in her heart. As she says:

“Growing up with a sister in the 80’s and 90’s with severe learning difficulties, support of the type provided by Talkback just wasn’t available. I want to raise as much as I can to give everybody the opportunity to be part of a society of inclusion. One that celebrates diversity.

“However, that’s not the only reason. Our beautiful granddaughter, Alaia, who will be four years old by the time I run this half marathon, is non-verbal autistic. She is one very special little lady and by supporting me and donating to Talkback, it will mean that when Alaia is older, she will have the opportunities that Talkback provide. And that is so, so important to us.”

The Talkback Youth Club

Since it began, our Youth Club has proved incredibly popular with autistic people aged 16-24 years old. It provides a supervised space where they can meet people, chat, and have fun. There are also organised activities provided such as sports, crafts, music and much more. Any money raised through Jools fundraising will go towards supporting this incredibly important facility.
