These small structures will be placed in the local community to house books that people can take to read. Each library is 80cm wide, 30cm deep, and 80cm in height with a roof. They will be set on a tall post, like a bird table.
Neil Sainsbury, Head of Adult Services at Talkback UK, commented: “This project has enabled our members to use a range of traditional woodworking techniques such as tenon joints and to work with a range of machines, including the table saw, band saw, planer and chisel morticer. As usual, they have tackled this project with huge enthusiasm, and we hope the local community we be as pleased with their libraries as our members have been to make them.”
The team were delighted to be able to handover the libraries to the Town Council on 30th June. When they did so, they were invited by the Mayor, Councillor Steven Lambert to have a tour of the Mayoral Chamber and to try on his official robes. As you can see from the photos below, everyone had a wonderful time. We’d like to say thank you to the Mayor for making this possible. We will have more photos from to share once the little libraries are installed.
